Key Personnel

Joana Ama Osei-Tutu is the Head of the Women Peace and Security Institute at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC) in Accra, Ghana. Prior to this she was a Deputy Program Head and Research Associate at the Peace and Security Studies Program of the Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research at the KAIPTC. Joana’s research work has focused on maritime (in) security; transnational organized crimes; the protection of civilians; and natural resource management and its security implications.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from the University of Ghana, and a Masters in International Studies (Development Cooperation) from the Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea. She has also worked with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Ghana as an administrative officer on an educational reform committee and later as a Confidential Executive Assistant to the Permanent Secretary. Joana speaks English fluently and minimal French.

Agnes Afi Agbevadi is a Program Officer at the Women Peace and Security Institute (WPSI) within the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC). Prior to joining the WPSI Team, she worked as a Human Resource Officer at the Center for 10 years. Before joining the KAIPTC, she worked at the Precious Metals Refinery Company (PMRC) as an Administrative Officer.

She has over 10 years of experience in Management and Administration. Agnes holds a Bachelor of Science in HR Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the same institution. She is fluent in English and French and a host of other Ghanaian local languages. Her areas of interest include the impacts of conflict on women and girls and the role of women in Peacebuilding.

Adelaide is multilingual with professional fluency in English and Spanish, with intermediate proficiency in French. She holds a master degree in International Territorial Studies with specialisation in International Development from the Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, and a Bachelor Degree in Geography & Resource Development and Spanish from the University of Ghana.

Her experience covers research, project coordination and management support. Adelaide joined the KAIPTC-WPSI team in October 2018. Prior to this, she worked as a research intern at the Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research of the KAIPTC.
